92 Bandra riot case witness expresses inability
Mumbai, May 26 (UNI) A police constable, witness in the 1992 Bandra riot case, today said he would not be able to identify the accused since he had sustained an head injury in an accident that occurred in 2004.
Deposing before special Metropolitan Magistrate Rajeshwari Bapat Sarkar, the constable said he had maintained a police diary of rioting at Kherwadi police station, Bandra, involving Shiv Sena leader Madhukar Sarpotdar and others, but now he would not be able to identify the accused.
He admitted that the senior police officer registered the case on basis of the diary, but now his memory had become weak due to the accident.
The Magistrate has adjourned the hearing till May 31, as some documents were not not available.
