Purda Nashin booths used in elections for veil clad women
Gulbarga, May 22 (UNI) For the first time in electoral history of the state the election authorities had erected 418 'purda nashin' booths to check the identity of veil clad women in the district during the third phase elections to Karnataka Assembly today..
The district has a higher per centage of minority voters.
The district administration deputed three woman officers each to the booth. This included a polling officer, a woman micro observer and a woman constable.
They checked the identities of the woman and then let them vote.
