Sakhi buses for women passengers in UP

Lucknow, May 21 (UNI) To ease working women from daily hassles, Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) today started 'Sakhi bus' (special bus service for women) here.

Unusually, the Sakhi buses would have women conductors and also help the women passengers to overcome eve-teasing incidents.

However, there would be no freebies and the women passengers would have to pay the same fare that applies on normal buses.

The special bus would run from 0930 hrs in the morning and 1700 hrs in the evening to provide easy to-and-fro service to the working women.

Transport minister Ram Achal Rajbhar inaugurated this special bus service.
