Kannada actress held for abetting murder
Mumbai, May 21 (UNI) Mumbai police today arrested a Kannada film actress for allegedly abetting the murder of her boyfriend by a former beau in a triangular love affair case.
The crime branch sleuths arrested 27-year-old Maria Monica Sushiraj, Joint-Commissioner of police Rakesh Maria, here said.
M L Jerome Mathew, a naval officer and Sushiraj's former beau, murdered Neeraj Amarnath Grohan in a fit of jealousy, as Grohan and Sushiraj had fallen in an affair.
The incident occurred on May 6. Grohan, a creative head of Adlabs, had been approached by Sushiraj for roles in television serials. She had already worked in few Kannada films. The actress had also sought Grohan's help in shifting her residence.
Mathew, after coming to know of the affair, had come to Mumbai from Kochi and met Sushiraj.
Finding Grohan also at Sushiraj's place, he prodded the former with a knife and killed him, Mr Maria said.
Sushiraj allegedly helped Mathew in disposing off the body. The body was reportedly chopped and burnt.
Grohan's father had lodged a complaint with the Malad police stating that his son was missing.
Mr Maria said naval officers had been apprised of the crime and the Mumbai police is likely to get Mathew's custody.
