Haryana contributes over 51 lakh MTs wheat to central pool
Chandigarh, May 21 (UNI) Haryana has contributed 51.92 lakh MTs of wheat to the central pool so far which is 18.42 MTs more than the corresponding period of previous year.
Stating this here today Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan said that total arrival of wheat in the mandis was 52.63 lakh MTs so far and out of this 51.92 lakh MTs of wheat was purchased by six goverment procuring agencies while remaining 70,964 MTs of wheat, which was just one per cent of the total arrival, was purchased by traders.
He said that the arrival of wheat this year has beaten the record of previous three years.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that during the entire season of last year, the arrival of wheat in the mandis was 37.37 lakh MTs and out of this 33.50 lakh MTs of wheat was procured by the government procuring agencies.
While giving the details of the procurement of wheat by the procuring agencies, he said that HAFED had procured 19.17 lakh MTs, Food and Supplies Department had procured 10.75 lakh MTs of wheat, Food Corporation of India 7.82 lakh MTs, Haryana Warehousing Corporation 4.84 lakh MTs, Confed 4.76 lakh MTs and Haryana Agro Industries Corporation 4.56 lakh MTs while the traders had purchased only 70,964 MTs.
The Sirsa district is still ahead in the arrival of wheat with 7.63 lakh metric tonnes followed by Karnal with 6.02 lakh metric tonnes of wheat, Fatehabad 5.84 lakh MTs, Kaithal 5.49 lakh MTs and Jind 5.48 lakh MTs of wheat, he added.
