Dev Anand's "Guide" screened in classics section at Cannes

Cannes, May 21 (UNI) Evergreen Dev Anand, whose 1966 film "The Guide" was screened at the Classics section of the Cannes Film Festival last night, hopes to come back next year with a new film, this time in the competition section.

Speaking before an appreciative audience that filled the theatre, Dev Anand said he missed the presence of his brother Chetan Anand, the director of the film.

Chetan Anand, whose debut film 'Neecha Nagar'bagged the 'Palme d'Or' award for the best film at this very film festival in 1946, had died in 1997.

"In the 42 years since it was made, 'The Guide' has received appreciation wherever it was screened but my brother should have been present at this final success," he added.

The intrepid actor-director said he was still making films and would be back next year with his new film, this time in the competition section.
