CAG pats Haryana on robust fiscal management

Chandigarh, May 21 (UNI) The Comptroller and Auditor General of India Vinod Rai has appreciated the improvement in the fiscal position of Haryana during the last couple of years.

In a communication addressed to Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, the Comptroller and Auditor General of India has written, ''My compliments are due to you for the improvement in the fiscal position of the State during the last couple of years.

Emergence of revenue, fiscal and primary surplus during 2006-07 indicates the robust fiscal health of the State''.

He has also suggested that the State Government further strengthen revenue assessment and collection mechanism to avoid cases of non recovery or under assessments of tax, non or short recoveries, incorrect exemptions, evasions and undue retention of Government money.

On the suggestions of the Comptroller and Auditor General, the Haryana Government is further improving the functioning of some of the welfare and development schemes and programmes and improving responsive delivery mechanism for maximising the benefits of these schemes, an official spokesman said.
