Lalu-Rabri used influence to extend benefits to relatives:BJP
Patna, May 20 (UNI) The Bihar BJP today alleged that Railway Minister Lalu Prasad and his wife Rabri Devi had misused their official positions during their tenure as Bihar Chief Minister and extended undue benefits to their relatives.
Party spokesman Vinod Narain Jha told newspersons here that Gulab Rai, brother of Mr Prasad and his relative Sudish Rai were provided government land at Phulwaria village in Gopalganj district of Bihar in 2003-04, violating rules in this regard.
'' As per the norms, state government provides land to the landless farmers belonging to Scheduled Castes(SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Other Backward classes(annexure-1),'' Mr Jha said and pointed out that land given to the relatives of Mr Prasad during Ms Rabri Devi's tenure did not fall in any one of the mentioned categories.
Mr Prasad had sanctioned the laying of tracks through the land of their relatives which was provided to them by the government in violation of rules, he said and alleged it was his attempt to give further benefits to them.
