3201 villages brought under land settlement in J
Srinagar, May 18 (UNI) About 50 per cent total village in Jammu and Kashmir have been brought under measurement while records of rights in 1243 villages have been deposited upto ending March this year.
Financial Commissioner (Revenue) Khurshid Ahmad Ganai said out of 6948 villages of the state, 3201 have been brought under measurement and a record of rights in 1243 villages have been deposited upto ending March 2008.
The Settlement Commissioner, J&K, G R Ghaani said that central government is funding the data creation centre for computerisation of settlement records.
He said the union government has agreed to provide funds to the organisation for purchase of 300 more ETS Machines and ten GPS.
The Organization is contemplating to set up LAN and WAN for connection of the computers for transfer of data.
The department is contemplating to set up on line attestation of mutations and issuance of inhabitants in future at Tehsil, Naibat and Patwara halqas level.
He said the department is going to establish a separate independent Revenue Information Technology Services.
