TTD to celebrate birth anniversary of saint-poetess Vengamamba

Tirupati, May 16 (UNI) The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) will celebrate the 278th birth anniversary of saint-poetess Tarigonda Vengamamba from tomorrow.

As part of the celebrations, literary meets and cultural programmes would be organised at Tarigonda, the birth place of the poetess, Tirupati and Tirumala, where she attained salvation after migrated from her birthplace, due to social problems.

TTD Special Officer A V Dharma Reddy said her tomb, which was existing in a school premises at Tirumala, would be developed as a tourist spot.

A prayer centre would also be constructed there, he added.
