Prez Congratulates New President of Paraguay

New Delhi, May 16 (UNI) President Pratibha Devisingh Patil today congratulated Mr Fernando Lugo on his election as the new President of Paraguay and conveyed her best wishes for the success of his agenda for change and for improvement of the socio-economic situation of the Paraguayans.

In a congratulatory message to the President-elect, Mrs Patil said: ''It gives me great pleasure to congratulate you on your historic election as the new President of the Republic of Paraguay.

I would like to convey my best wishes for success of your agenda for change and for improvement of the socio-economic situation of the Paraguayans.'' She said India and Paraguay have friendly relations and ''we wish to enrich this relationship and further strengthen them for mutual benefit.'' Mrs Patil said India would also like to ''establish a development partnership with Paraguay'' as part of it's commitment to South-South Cooperation.
