SC to examine competence of SC/ST Commission in Jogi's case
New Delhi, May 14 (UNI) The Supreme Court today decided to examine whether SC/ST Commission is competent to decide whether SC certificate used by former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Ajit Jogi is genuine.
A bench comprising Justices B N Agarwal and G S Singhvi admitted the petition filed by Chhattisgarh government, collector Bilaspur and Sant Kumar Netam challenging the state High Court order that state SC/ST Commission was not competent to decide whether the caste certificate used by Ajit Jogi to claim tribal status was a forged one or genuine.
Mr Jogi is facing allegation of using forged ST certificate for contesting Assembly elections from a reserved constituency.
He has, however, vehemently denied the allegations as politically motivated.
