Paper announces Rs 10,000 per month for photo journalist's wife
Jammu, May 14 (UNI) The wife of chief photographer of Daily Excelsior Ashok Sodhi, who was killed while covering an insurgent attack at Samba in Jammu and Kashmir, will be given a grant of Rs 10,000 as monthly exgratia by the leading english newspaper.
At a meeting with the newspaper staff, Editor-in-Chief of the paper, Mr S D Rohmetra yesterday announced that Sodhi's wife would be paid Rs 10,000 per month for rest of her life.
Sodhi had fallen prey to militants' bullets while he was covering an encounter at Samba on May 11.
With the death of Sodhi, the number of journalists killed during 18-year-long militancy in the state has risen to nine. He is the first mediaperson of Jammu region to be killed by the militants.
