10 die in road accident in Jalpaiguri

Jalpaiguri, May 14 (UNI) At least ten people died and three others seriously injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a eight-seater car at Mendapara in Hasimara under Alipurduar sub-division of the district this morning.

The bus was coming from Hasimara and going towards Alipurduar, while the car was travelling from Kumargram to Madarihat, when the bus driver lost control of his vehicle and hit the car head-on killing all the ten people on the spot. The accident occurred at around 1015 hrs.

Meanwhile, the injured had been taken to a local hospital.

SP Tripurari said investigation was on as to how the accident occurred and the injured were being treated in the hospital.
