SI and CRPF jawan killed, 3 injured in encounter with ultras
Hazaribag, May 11 (UNI) A Sub-Inspector and a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan were killed and three others injured in an encounter with CPI(Maoist) ultras at Dahudag forest under Charhi police station in this district today.
Superintendent of Police Praveen Kumar Singh said Officer-in Charge of Charhi police station Vijay Thakur and a CRPF jawan Prashant died on the spot, whereas two jawans of Jharkhand Armed Police Mangaldeep and Satyendra Kumar and a CRPF jawan Ramanand Tiwary were injured in the incident.
Mr Singh said Ramanad was shifted to state capital in critical condition.
Briefing about the incident, Mr Singh said a team of security forces raided the forest area after receiving information about the ultras' presence.
''The ultras fired indiscriminately on the security personnel, killing two of them,'' Mr Singh said, adding that although security forces retailiated, they managed to flee immediately after the encounter, which continued for more than two and half hours.
On May 7, a sub-inspector was killed and three jawans seriously injured when ultras of proscribed outfit fired indiscriminately at a police van at Holangmur under Bishnupur police station here.
