Honour killing in Haryana: father kills daughter, son-in-law

Karnal, May 9 (UNI) The notorious practice of honour killing once again reared its ugly head when a father allegedly killed his daughter and her husband in village Balla in this district of Haryana last night.

Sunita (25), a resident of village Balla, had fallen in love with Jagveer (25) of the same village and the two left the village six months ago after tying the nuptial knot, to escape the wrath of the family and villagers as being of the same village, they were considered brother and sister and marriage between them was a taboo.

According to police, the father of the girl, Prakash Singh, contacted the couple and brought them home.

He allegedly stragulated the couple in their sleep.

The police, which got the informtion about the crime this morning arrested the accused father. However, the accused was being hailed by majority of the villagers.
