Nitish warns of stern action against agencies for inferior works
Patna, Apr 29 (UNI) Taking serious note of the inferior quality of road construction, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today warned of stern action against the errant agencies.
Addressing the day-long training programme-cum-seminar of the Rural department's quality of works, Mr Kumar said misuse of the state exchequer would not be tolerated at any cost and action would be taken against the agencies if found guilty of inferior quality of road construction work.
Mr Kumar reiterated his commitment to maintaining quality of works, saying the government had accorded top priority to the quality of work in all sectors and would not compromise with it.
The quality of construction work would be inspected any time, he cautioned.
He said the government was committed to judicious development, and several programmes for welfare of the society had been taken up for it, including construction of rural roads under the Chief Minister's Rural Road Construction scheme.
The Chief Minister asked the agencies engaged in the developmental activities, specially in road construction, to adhere to the laid standards of the work and said maintenance of the roads would be allotted to the hired agencies with commendable performance.
Addressing the seminar, Rural Works Minister Brishan Patel said the governmenmt was concentrating on development of the rural areas and had fixed a target to construct 60,000 km roads in the rural areas.
