Bandh observed in West Singhbhum to protest killing of BJP leader
Jamshedpur,Apr 29 (UNI) A bandh was observed in Jharkhand's West Singhbhum district today in protest against the killing of a BJP leader in Chakradharpur, a subdivisional town, yesterday.
Official sources said all shops and markets remained closed in Chakradharpur and the district headquarters Chaibasa.
Educational and financial institutions also remained closed while local and long-distance buses did not ply.
Mr Sao (45), a local BJP leader, was killed when four miscreants hurled seven bombs at Mr Sao's car near Charkradharpur railway level crossing yesterday. The bombs ripped through the vehicle killing the BJP leader on the spot while three others, including the driver, were severly injured. They were rushed to the Chakradharpur railway hospital.
Meanwhile, BJP leader and the former Jharkhand chief minister Arjun Munda rushed to Chakradharpur. He demanded immediate arrest of the culprits and removal of the subdivisional police officer.
