Special drive to check errant private vehicle operators

Shimla, Apr 28 (UNI) To tighten the noose around the errant private bus operators who were wrongly charging and overloading, Himachal Transport Authority will launch special drive to check vilolation of Motor vehicle Act, a department spokesman said here today.

The practices, specially the overloading, were not only dangerous but were also causing an unhealthy competition between HRTC and private operators, he said.

The private operators were also being cautioned not to under charge the prescribed fares as it was also leading to evasion of tax since no tickets were being issued to passengers, he added.

He said it was gross vilation of Motor Vehicle Act and fare rates fixed by the Government should be adhered to and tickets should also be issued invariably to the passengers by the private bus operators failing which their Route Permits would be cancelled besides other prescribed action under the rules.
