Bangarappa files paper against Yeddyurappa
Bangalore, Apr 20 (UNI) Former Karnataka Chief Minister and state Samajawadi Party President S Bangarappa, senior Congress leaders H K Patil, R V Deshapande and Shamanur Shivashankarappa were among those who have filed their nominations papers for the second phase assembly elections scheduled to be held on May 16.
Mr Bangarappa who ended the speculation over pre-poll alliance either with JD(S) or with Congress, filed his papers from Shikaripur assembly seat where BJP's Chief Ministerial candidate B S Yeddyurappa who is seeking re-lection.
Other leaders those who filed nomination for II Phase election included Congress leader H K Patil, who is trying his luck for the first time to the Assembly. Mr Patil, who has been a Member of the Legislative Council for over two decades, would be contesting for the lower house for the first time. He filed his nomination papers from Gadag assembly seat as the Congress candidate.
