Villagers hoist black flags on SEZ land acquisition

Madurai, Apr 26 (UNI) A section of residents of Parayankulangara and Eliyarpathi Villages today hoisted black flags atop their houses in protest against the land acquisition for the proposed Special Economic Zone (SEZ) by the Tamil Nadu Government, here.

The black flag demonstration by the villagers assume significance in view of the visit of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi to the city today.

On information, sevaral Revenue and police officials rushed to the spot to pacify the villagers.
