Congress to focus on Stability and development: Kapil Sibal
Bangalore, Apr 26 (UNI) Union Minister for Science and Technology and AICC spokesperson Kapil Sibal today expressed confidence in party highcommand resolving the issues raised by Senior party leader and Congress Working Committee (CWC) member C K Jaffer Sharief, who had reportedly resigned from the party.
Addressing newspersons here, Mr Sibal described Mr Sharief as 'most respected member of the Congress family' and expressed confidence that the issues raised by Mr Sharief and others will be resolved in a day or two.
Referring to similar open resentment shown by Mr K Karunakaran, a seniormost party leader of the party, Mr Sibal said that the octogenarian leader ultimately came back to partyfold after realising his mistake. "Everything will be ultimately resolved in the larger interest of the party", he added.
Mr Sibal said that Congress party had faced many challenges in distribution of party tickets to its members to contest the coming Assembly elections in the state as party had received large number of applications by partymen expressing their desire to fight the election on party symbol. "The problem was compounded further with the reduction in number of General seats" he said.
Stating that twin issue of stability and development will be the main plank of the Congress party in the coming Assembly elections, Mr Sibal rolled-out the statistics of achievements made by the S M Krishna led Congress government in 1999-2004. In contrast to the achievements of Mr Krishna's government the JD(S) and BJP parties which formed coalition government for brief period indulged in struggle for power which ultimately led to the fall of the government. "No Non-Congress governments lost for full term in Karantaka" Mr Sibal said and added that Congress is the only which can ensure political stability, he added.
Charging that both BJP and JD(S) have no regard for any ideology and have shown utter hungry for power, Mr Sibal expressed confidence that people of Karnataka will reject the politics of Opportunism.
"Nation has witnessed a theater of absurd in Karnataka which was brought under the path of development and progress during Congress region in the past", he added.
