Action against staff who refused admission to pregnant woman

Mumbai, Apr 25 (UNI) Mumbai Municipal commissioner Jairaj Phatak today said action will be taken against the doctors, nurses and other staff of Bhabha hospital, in the western suburb, who refused admission to a pregnant woman, Seema Bano, who was forced to give birth to her child in a taxi on April 18.

Speaking to reporters here, Mr Phatak said an inquiry has been initiated against the staff of Bhabha hospital, who were present when the woman was refused admission and was forced to deliver her baby in a taxi.

It may be noted that the resident doctors were on a three-day strike demanding an increase in the number of post graduation seats, during which many patients were refused treatment by the striking doctors.
