Retail prices of food commodities remain steady
New Delhi, Apr 24 (UNI) Retail prices of farm commodities generally remained steady or showed mixed trend over the week ending April 17, 2008.
Monitored by the Department of Consumer Affairs during the week, the trend showed that wheat prices remained steady at all the reporting centres. Price increased at Bhopal and decreased at Ahmedabad.
Prices of sugar remained steady at all the reporting centres, except for a decline at Ahmedabad, Bhubaneshwar, Shillong and Hyderbad.
Prices of gram dal remained steady at majority of reporting centres. Prices increased at Hyderabad. Price decreased at Delhi, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Shillong and Bangalore.
Prices of tur dal remained steady at most centres. Price increase at Mumbai and decreased at Lucknow, Shillong, Bangalore and Hyderabad.
In Delhi, prices of sugar, tea (loose), and mustard oil, held steady for one week. Prices of rice, wheat, atta, tur dal, groundnut oil, milk and potato held steady for one month. Price of salt (pack) held steady for six months. Price of gram dal decreased from Rs 38 to Rs 37 per kg during the week. Price of vanaspati decreased from Rs 75 to Rs 73 per kg.
Out of 1.41 million tonnes of pulses contracted for import by PEC, MMTC, NAFED and STC so far, 1.2 million tonnes have arrived at Indian ports out of which 1.03 MT have been disposed of.
