Navigation transport to be restored soon in Kashmir
Srinagar, Apr 20 (UNI) Union Minister for Water Resources Saif-ud- din Soz said the navigation transport would be restored again in river Jhelum from south to north Kashmir.
Mr Soz, who is also Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president, said a comprehensive plan had been formulated for beautification of the river.
The day was not far away when navigation transport would be restored in it from Khanabal in south Kashmir to Khadiniyar in north Kashmir, he added.
He said other water bodies in the state would also be taken care of in a phased manner.
Mr Soz said apart from opening of Srinagar-Muzaffarabad road, some more measures were in the pipeline to facilitate transportation and trade relations with neighbouring country.
He said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi were very keen for the peace, development and prosperity of the Jammu and Kashmir.
He said they were actively considering to implement the recommendations of the various committees in Kashmir to bring more comfort and cheer in the lives of people.
