Postal and RMS employees union threatens nationwide protest
Ambala, Apr 18 (UNI) The National Postal and RMS Employees' Unions Organisation today threatened of launching a nation-wide agitation if their demand to remove anomalies in the 6th Pay Commission Report were not met soon.
''The pay commission recommendations have been rejected by us as it had failed to give relief to more than 3.5 lakh Gramin Dak Sewa employees,'' the organisation's Secretary General D Tyagrajan said here while interacting with the media here after participating in the convention of the Union held here today.
He said that Gramin Dak Sewaks comprised of 50 per cent of the total workforce of the department which had been neglected by the pay commission.
He also criticised the pay commission for not recommending a hike in the minimum pay of postal and RMS employees, which he said should have been Re 10,000 with other allowances.
He said that a 10-point memorandum of demands had been handed over to the Cabinet Secretary highlighting the other demands of employees, which included time-bound promotion, lifting of ban on recruitments, stopping retrenchment of RMS employees and resuming mail service through railways.
He said that the organisation did not want any interim relief but was insisting upon implementation of the pay revision after modifying the recommendations of the pay commission.
''If the demands of lakhs of employees were not accepted soon, they would be compelled to adopt the agitational path to press for them at national level, he said.
