JMPO to observe May-Day as anti-price rise day
Jalandhar, Apr 18 (UNI) Various organisations under the banner of Joint Platform of Mass Organisation (JPMO), Punjab will observe the coming May Day as anti-price rise and anti-privatisation day.
The JPMO conveners Punjab CTU president Mangat Ram Pasla, Jamhoori Kisan Sabha joint secretary Raghbir Singh, Dehat Mazdoor Sabha general secretary Gurnam Singh Daud, Punjab Subordinate Services Federation president Such Singh Khattra in a press release issued here today stated that ''policies of imperialist-globalisation, liberalisation and privatisation, being pursued by the centre and the State governments are the main cause of sky-rocketing of prices, which has made it difficult for the common man to buy even a meal day''.
''Both the Centre as well as state governments had abdicated their responsibility to control the price-rise,'' they said, adding that the governments were bent upon privatising education, health, roads, drinking water facilities and electricity.
The conveners reiterated to defeat all these anti-people policies of the Centre and the state governments and decided to mobilise the people on these issues and to observe May-Day as anti-price rise and anti-privatisation day.
