Lalu urges people to strengthen secularism
Saharsa, Apr 9 (UNI) Reiterating his commitment for the promotion of unity and integrity in the country, Railway Minister Lalu Prasad today urged the people to strengthen the cause of secularism.
Addressing the 'Bhagait Mahasammelan' here, Mr Prasad asked the people to carry forward the age-old culture of unity in diversity.
''It will also help to defeat the communal forces who are involved in divisive politics,'' he stated.
He maintained that the Almighty does not discriminate on the basis of caste, creed, gender and religion. ''Neither does He belong to any particular section, rather each one of us. Therefore, a group of people must not be allowed to politicise religion or caste for narrow political gains,'' he added.
He said politicians should not play with the country's unity and integrity by dividing the people on caste, religion and regional grounds. ''It will only damage national integration. It is our duty to promote unity and integrity in the country,'' he added.
