More comfort in Kalinga Utkal express

Puri, Apr 3(UNI) Passengers traveling in non-AC coaches of the Kalinga Utkal express will now enjoy more comfort during the journey with the upgradation of some basic passenger amenities and facilities.

The upgraded train was flagged off by Divisional Railway Manager of Khurda Road R L Gupta from Puri platform yesterday.

Sources said the coaches were provided with mirrors with the wash basins and in the passenger sitting area while the thickness of the cushions of the sleeping berth was increased .

Many other features like installation of folding snacks table, magazine and bottle holders were placed for the first time in the coaches.

This apart the fire resistant materials was used to prevent spread of fire in cases of fire accidents. The coaches were painted afresh to give a new look, Mr Gupta said.

He assured that the entire Puri station would be rebuilt keeping the increasing tourist traffic in the near future.
