Cabinet decides to implement rice scheme from April 9
Hyderabad, Apr 3 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet today decided to implement Rs-two-a-kilo rice scheme from April nine for the benefit of 1.87 lakh white ration card holders in the state.
Information Minister A Ramanarayana Reddy told reporters here that Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, who chaired the Cabinet meeting, had directed his cabinet colleagues to ensure that no eligible person was denied the white ration card.
The Cabinet also decided to provide Rs 800 crore bank linkages to over 50,000 more Women Self Help Groups in urban areas, he said.
The Cabinet approved Rs 40 crore for issue of photo identity cards to voters in 281 constituencies.
Voters in 13 constituencies in Hyderabad had already been provided the cards under a pilot scheme, he added.
