SJVN pays Rs 136 crore interim dividend

Shimla, Mar 31 (UNI) Public sector Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN) Ltd has paid an interim dividend of Rs 136 crore to the quity partners of central government and Himachal Pradesh government for its financial performance during the year 2007-08, company spokesman today said.

On account of equity participation of 75 per cent in the corporation, the dividend cheque of Rs 102 crore was presented to the Union Power Minister Shushil Kumar Shinde by SJVN CMD H K Sharma recently.

Presenting the cheque, Mr Sharma informed the Power Minister that the company's 1500 MW Nathpa hakri Power Station had performed excedingly well during the current year 2007-08 and achieved an all time high generation of over 6350 million units so far.

He also informed the Chief Minister that the generation achieved against last year's 5941 million units was the end result of efficient silt management and machine management measures adopted by the company.

Himachal Pradesh government holds 25 per cent equity in the Nathpa Jhakri Power Station, while central government holds 75 per cent equity.

On account of the holding, Himachal Goverment has already been paid an interim dividend of Rs 34 crore.
