NCB arrests three for possessing heroin in city
Chennai, Mar 31 (UNI) The Narcotics Control Bureau(NCB) officials today arrested three people on charges of possessing 590 grams of heroin at Anna Nagar bus stand here.
An NCB release said, the NCB officers intercepted Jeyabaskharan (53), Indian of Sri Lankan origin, Mohamed Mharoof Raja (52), hailing from Sri Lanka and Ramesh (42) from Kerala, who were travelling in a car, and seized the banned drugs from their possession.
The car, used for illicit trafficking of the drugs, was also seized by the officials.
During investigation, it was revealed that Jeyabaskharan had been indulging in drug trafficking for many years and was now nabbed while he was sending the drugs through Mohamed Mahroof for illegal export to Sri Lanka with the help of Ramesh.
Properties worth about Rs 50 lakh, belonging to Jeyabaskharan, had also been frozen, the release added.
