Mizo health workers to go on indefinite strike
Aizawl, Mar 31 (UNI) The Mizoram Health Multipurpose employees today threatened to go on an indefinite strike after the government failed to fulfil their demand of pay parity with government health workers.
The Mizoram Health Multipurpose Service Association (MHSA) had given an ultimatum to the state government on March four in this regard but in vain, its president Ms Laltawni said.
''If, until April 8, the government remains indifferent, we will resort to a pen-down strike from April eight to 12, a mass casual leave from April 15-19 and an indefinite mass casual leave from April 21,'' the MHSA workers said.
The health workers have alleged that they were forced to work at all the national health programmes but were discriminated while making payments.
Since 1987 pay revision the health multipurpose workers have been subjected to discrimination against their counterparts in other services, they further alleged.
''We have submitted our appeal to each pay committee, but when the committee recommendation came out we found ourselves lower than our counterparts,'' Ms Laltawni said.
