Malayalam poet Kadammanitta passes away
Pathanamthitta, Mar 31 (UNI) Well known Malayalam poet and former MLA Kadammanitta Ramakrishnan, popularly known as Kadammanitta, passed away after a prolonged illness at a private hospital here today.
He was 73. He is survived by his wife, a daughter and a son.
Kadammanitta had been undergoing treatment for leukaemia for the past three months and three days back, he was shifted to a private hospital in the district.
Kadammanitta, a poet of the mass, had a strong influence on contemporary Malayalam literature and played a vital role in reviving people's interest in poetry by holding thousands of recital sessions in every nook and corner of the state during 1970s and 80s.
His creations were widely appreciated for its force, energy, folk touch and mass appeal, which made poetry enjoyable even to commonman.
