Delhi CM announces compensation for Bldg collapse victims
New Delhi, Mar 29 (UNI) Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today ordered a compensation of Rs one lakh each to the next of kin of those dead in this morning's building collapse in east Delhi.
Six people were killed and 16 injured when a four storeyed building which was under construction in Seelampur areas of east Delhi collapsed at 0730 hrs.
A compensation of Rs 50000 was announced by the Chief Minister for kin of each of the children who died in the collapse of the under construction building in Seelampur in east Delhi this morning, a Delhi government spokesperson said.
For the victims belonging to the below poverty line families, however, the compensation will be of Rs 2 lakh for the next of kin of each of the adults and Rs 75000 for the kin of each of the children dead in the incident.
For those injured in the incident, a compensation of upto Rs 75000 has been announced depending on the seriousness of their injuries.
Delhi Lt Governor Tejender Khanna has already ordered a magisterial inquiry into the incident while the MCD has ordered a vigilance inquiry in the matter.
