Lucknow, Mar 27 (UNI) Alleging that Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati has forgotten her party's ideologue E V Ramaswami Naickar Periyar, Indian Justice Party (IJP) chief Udit Raj today announced holding of a 'Pardafash Mahasabha' here on April 14, if the state government did not allot land to install a statue of the social reformer by his party.

''On the pressure of new entrant Brahmins in the BSP, Mayawati has forgotten Periyar and is even ready to insult the great leader to appease the upper caste vote bank,'' charged Mr Raj.

Addressing a press conference here, Mr Raj said IJP will hold a 'Pardafash Mahasabha' in the Lucknow on Baba Saheb Ambedkar birth anniversary on April 14, if UP government did not allot space for the installation of Periyar's statue.

Though maintaining that Periyar's statue issue was a symbolic protest, he noted ''we only want the CM to remember the leaders, who were the root to her party's success.'' IJP is said to have written to the CM on March 18 to provide them a space in Lucknow for installing the statue of Periyar.

The leader said in order to become the country's Prime Minister, Mayawati can even support ''burning'' of 'Sacchi Ramayana' to appease the upper caste.

''The Pardafash Mahasabha will bring out the real face of the BSP leaders like Mayawati did against Mulayam Singh Yadav through a similar Pardafash rally in 2003,'' he underlined.
