Suspected ULFBV militants abduct bamboo trader
Silchar, Mar 25 (UNI) Suspected militants today kidnapped a bamboo trader at gunpoint from Kalamati area in Assam's Karimganj district.
Police said a group of armed militants abducted Selim Uddin (45), who used to supply bamboo to Cachar Paper Mill while he was on his way to Kalamati forest, about 150 km from here.
The victim was travelling in a truck along with some labourers, however, the militants didn't harm the driver of the truck and the workers.
Police suspect the United Liberation Front of Barak Valley (ULFBV) outfit behind the incident as they have been engaged in kidnapping and extortion in Barak Valley areas since past one decade.
Meanwhile, the police and CRPF personnel have rushed to the spot and started combing operation near Assam-Mizoram border.
