5 HM, Harkat militants arrested, IED recovered in Kashmir

Srinagar, Mar 19 (UNI) Security forces arrested five militants of Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) and Harkat-ul-Mujahideen (HUM) and recovered one Improvised Explosive Device and grenades in the Kashmir valley, official sources said today.

They said Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police and 179 battalion of CRPF conducted a joint operation at Nowpora, Sopore, in Baramulla district.

During the operation three HuM Over Ground Workers (OGW) identified as Irshad Ahmad Sheikh, Muhammadhd Aslam Najar and Abdul Hamid Najar were identified along with three grenades, ten ak rounds of ammunition.

In a separate incident sources said police and CRPF established a naka checking at Dardpora in Pulwama following a tip-off that militants were transporting arms and ammunition from the area.

Sources said two HM local trained militants Mehraj-ud-Din Bhat and Muhammad Maqbool Yatoo were arrested.

They said a five kg IED in a steel tin along with remote control circuit and 32 live rounds were recovered from their possession.
