Kerala Govt appeals against HC observations on Kannur violence

Kochi, Mar 18 (UNI) The Kerala Government has filed a writ appeal in the state High Court against the observations made by Mr Justice V Ramkumar on political violence in Kannur district.

The Judge, while allowing a petition for a CBI probe into the killing of NDF activist Mohd Fasal recently, had observed that the Centre should intervene to check the political violence in Kannur by deploying Central forces.

The Judge had also observed that political killings had become a ''competitive sport'' in Kannur.

The observations were criticised by CPI(M) State Secretary Pinarayi Vijayan.

The appeal would be considered by a division bench tomorrow.
