4 killed, 7 injured in van-bus collision

Madurai, Mar 18 (UNI) Four people were killed and seven injured when a van in which they were travelling collided head-on with a private bus at Samayanallur on the Madurai-Dindigul highway, near here, last night.

Police said the occupants of the van, hailing from Mandya district in Karnataka, on an excursion, were coming here from Kodaikanal, when the mishap occurred.

While V Sendhurammal (48) and Umesh (35) were crushed to death on the spot, C Poraiyya (40) and M Likitha (14) succumbed to their injuries at the Government Rajaji Hospital (GRH) here early today.

The condition of five among the injured admitted to GRH was stated to be critical, police said.
