Two injured in accidental firing in Udhampur
Jammu, Mar 13 (UNI) Two people, including an Army jawan, were injured, when a pistol went off accidentally in the Deputy Commissioner's (DC) office in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir, police sources said here.
''Two persons, including an ex-serviceman sustained bullet injuries after a pistol with which the jawan was fiddling went off inside the room of a clerk in the DC's office yesterday,'' the sources added.
''Panic gripped the office premises after accidental firing,'' they told UNI, asserting that the injured had been identified as Lance Naik L K Reddy of Patna and retired captain Sita Ram of Bakshi Nagar, Jammu.
The pistol was owned by one Devinder Singh, who had come to the DC's office for entry of the weapon's licence.
However, the pistol went off, when Lance Naik started fiddling with it, resulting in injuries to him and Sita Ram.
Police said the bullet brushed one of the arms of Lance Naik and hit the leg of the retired captain, who was sitting in the office.
