Haryana gets Rs 30 cr for modernisation
Chandigarh, March 7 (UNI) The Central Government has sanctioned an amount of Rs 30.33 crore for Haryana under Modernisation of Police Forces Scheme.
This was stated by the Governor A R Kidwai while addressing the State Legislative Assembly on the opening day of the Budget Session here today.
Emphasizing that peace and harmony in the society is a prerequisite for any meaningful growth, he said the State Government was committed to make the police force more sensitive to the needs of our citizens even as it would be made duly equipped to deal with law and order situations.
He said that anti-extremist cells had already been set up in the state and properly tasked. CID units and intelligence gathering machinery had been geared up.
Interstate Intelligence Support Teams (ISISTs) had been constituted for better coordination with neighbouring states to deal with the problems of terrorism and labour unrest. Police Commissioner System had been set up at Gurgaon and 16 new Police Stations had been sanctioned in addition to the existing 22 traffic Police Stations.
A recruitment drive has been launched to fill up the vacancies in the police force.
