Businessman booked for dowry and molestation

Pune, Mar 7(UNI) A prominent city businessman has been booked for demanding dowry, harassment and molestation on a complaint lodged by his daughter-in-law.

Priya in her complaint said she married Ajay Agarwal on January 21. She alleged that her father-in-law, Ram Agarwal including his wife Rita and son Ajay physically assaulted her and demanded dowry. She was also molested, she said.

In the report, she said that her father, an NRI based in Amsterdam had given in to the demand of a sum of Rs 31 lakh in cash during the engagement, and also a BMW car worth Rs 54 lakh. But, the family wanted to start other businesses and harassed her for more money.

A case has been registered and search for the father and son is on, police said.
