SSP scam: MPHC stays action against ryots
Jabalpur, Mar 4 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh High Court has imposed an interim stay on prosecution against farmers in a case regarding irregularities in land allotment to the Sardar Sarovar Project's oustees.
While hearing a Narmada Bachao Andolan (NBA) plea, Chief Justice Anang Kumar Patnaik and Justice Prakash Shrivastav yesterday directed issuance of notices to the state government and others.
''Fake registries running into crores were made by officials in the names of peasants. After the scam came to light, the officials are lodging police complaints against those ryots in a bid to save themselves,'' submitted NBA leader Medha Patkar.
The petition challenged official notices.
