Do not release salary of default employees: PDD
Srinagar, Mar 4 (UNI) In a novel way to recover electricity tariff from the defaulter government employees, the Power Development Department (PDD) has requested treasury officers not to release their (employees) salaries until they pay the dues.
Do not release the salaries of government employees who do not produce No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the PDD that they have paid their electricity tariff of their houses and flats, the PDD has requested the treasury officers.
It is necessary for all the government employees to produce NOC from PDD in view of the government instructions.
The department has also directed consumers of all categories-- domestic, commercial, industrial, state and Central government department-- to pay their electricity bills to avoid disconnection of power.
It has fixed March 10 to clear all outstanding tariff as it has been decided not to give any further relaxation in time.
The department threatened to disconnect power without any further notice.
Meanwhile, to streamline the billing, the PDD has now introduced computer bills for the energy being consumed by the consumers.
Though the computer billing has been introduced in metered and some slected areas, it will cover entire valley in the near future.
On the pattern of Bharat Sanchar Nimgam Limited (BSNL), the PDD has also introduced imposing of fine if a consumer failed to pay the tariff on due date.
However, in some areas people alleged that the computer bills issued to them were on higher side.
