Bio-Technology park to be set up near Deras

Bhubaneswar, Mar 4 (UNI) A US-based company has shown keen interest in setting up a Rs 100 crore bio-technology park to undertake research, development and production in Orissa.

Minister for Information Technology Surya Narayan Patro told newspersons here that the park is likely to be set up near Deras on the outskirt of the capital city.

Mr Patro said a delegation of the Next Generation Technology(NGT) company of New York, led by its President Namita A Deo and Chief Executive Officer Lalit Deo, in a meeting with Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed their interest to set up the park.

In a presentation at the meeting, the NGT delegation said they had planned to produce some bio-medicines, developed by them in the proposed park.

The delegation also promised to create 5000 IT jobs and 200 bio-technology scientists in five years.

Mr Patro said the delegation sought 60 to 100 acre of land for setting up the park.

He said Director Agriculture and Chief of Bio-technology department were asked to examine their land requirement and submit a report within 60 days.
