Traffic jams in Old Delhi, Central Delhi due to procession
New Delhi, Feb 28 (UNI) Traffic in Old Delhi and Central Delhi areas was thrown out of gear today due to a Chehlum procession by Mulsims on the occasion of the martrydom anniversary of Hazrat Imam Hussain Alehissalam (Grandson of Prophet Mohammad).
The huge procession, consisting of about 6000 people, began at 1000 hours from the Jama Masjid area passing through hauz Qazi, Ajmeri gate, Pahar Ganj, Chelmsford Road, Connaught Place, Parliament Street, Raisina Road, culminating at Jor Bagh at 2030 hours.
Consequently, movement of traffic in the areas in Old Delhi and Central Delhi was affected due to the procession.
The traffic was, however, normalised by 2030 hours, police said.
