Indian Army gifts horses to Bangladesh

New Delhi, Feb 25 (UNI) The Army today presented two stallions and four mares to the Bangladesh army, as a token of goodwill and friendship.

The reins of the horses were handed over by Chief of Army Staff Gen Deepak Kapoor, to his Bangladesh counterpart, General Moeen U Ahmed here today at a ceremony.

These stallions and mares, bred and produced at Equine Breeding Studs of remount Veterinary Corps, at Hisar and Babugarh, will form a strong breeding germ-plasm for production of quality horses for the Bangladesh Army and promote multifarious equestrian activities in that country.

These horses will be transported to the India-Bangladesh border under arrangement of the Indian Army by road. The horses will finally be handed over to the Bangladesh Army at Haridaspur-Banipole border, an official statement said.

General Moeen U Ahmed is also scheduled to visit the Indian Military Academy at Dehradun and other Army institutions during his six day visit to India.

He was accorded a guard of honour, after which he laid a wreath at the Amar Jawan Jyoti, memorial for soldiers at the India Gate.
