Mah Govt's decision to divert EGS funds 'unfortunate': Sena
Beed, Feb 22 (UNI) Calling the Maharashtra government's decision to divert reserve funds from Employment Guarantee Scheme (EGS) to state fund, Shiv Sena spokesperson Nilam Gorhe today said it was 'unfortunate' and the party would strongly oppose it in the Assembly as well as on roads.
Speaking on the occasion of 'Karzamukti Melawa' organised by the party here this evening, Ms Gorhe said ''The government wants to utilise the fund for some other schemes, which is not right. It is betrayal of taxpayers trust and we will never accept it. We demand employment guarantee to lakhs of poor people for 365 days. In this case, government's motive is not fair and after 'Karzamukti' (free of debts), we will be on roads on this issue.'' ''EGS is special to Maharashtra. It helps poor people to survive in adverse conditions. Nowadays the government is unable to give employment to everyone and in the name of National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS), state government is going to wind up EGS, leading to their misfortune and increasing migration,'' she said.
Ms Gorhe also blamed the government for its inability to check rising incidents of dacoity in the state and demanded a high level investigation.
