Choice Group to launch 'ready to eat' meals in India this year
Kochi, Feb 19, (UNI) After the successful launch of its 'Tastee Choice Meals' in the US last year, the 50-year-old Choice Group is all set to launch the product in the Indian market this year, group CMD Jose Thomas said.
Addressing a press conference here last evening, Mr Thomas said the product would be launched in Maharashtra by this year-end.
It would later be introduced in the Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai and Kochi markets.
The range of ready to 'heat n eat' foods includes pasta/rice/ noodle based preparations, with shrimp/chicken, vegetables and sauces for a complete meal.
The ingredients for the meal kits are sourced from across the world for quality. It was launched last year in the USA under the brand 'Tastee Choice' and is being sold through some of the leading department stores and chains in the US, he added.
The registration of one more brand, Malabar, is at an advanced stage, for retailing the meal kits, he said.
The Choice group, which has presence in sea food trade, value added sea food exports, real estate, education, shipping and logistics, is planning to construct south India's tallest building, having over 40 storeys, at suburban Tripunithura near Kochi in a 1.8 acre area.
Christened as 'Choice Paradise', the project would offer premium residential space in the form of luxury apartments.
Mr Thomas said the shipping division was performing well despite the global economic slowdown. With a proposed expansion in network and activities, it is expected that the division will maintain its profitability, he added.
